Trader's Town
As we all know people are spamming in Lion's Arch like: WTS: Lots of Junk, WTB: Lots of junk
Instead of this major spamming system that causes lag. Why don't we make a Taders town, with different sections. For example:
1 Big town/ island, with several area's
Mesmer Area:
Here you can sell everything thats from the Mesmer proffesion.
Elementalist Area:
Same As Mesmer
Ranger Area
Same story again
Necromancer Area:
Same story
Monk Area:
Well just think what you can do here
Material Area:
All other things like dyes, linnen, ectplasm and so on.
Ofcourse, people will know yell in these area's even harder then before. That's why they need a table which they can set up and show other people the stuff they have (other MMO's also have this, so make it special! )
People can now offer on things, by placing a offer fuction in the table, after 5 offers, the highest offer will win and get it. ( or the amount should be convertible)
Or a price is set by the player and if people wpuld like to have it then they just enter the money and accept. (or some system like that)
Well anyways, be a little bit creative and change this whole idea n to a perfect traders system.
Now people can leave there pc on, and sell things

The only drawback I see is that people who like to sell things have items for multiple 'professions' and being forced to sell an item in a specified "zone" would take much longer to work through their stashes.
Other than that, I like the idea.

i just think that a person should be able to set up a shop in any of the main towns and sell anything they want. people would enter their shop by clicking on their name or something of the sort. basicly, they would be a living, breathing, npc merchant.

How about you could buy or rent a copy of yourself, like an NPC that sells the stuff for you in a shop fashion. People can view your items and buy them at a designated price if they so wish.
The gold would be transferred to your account and the buyer takes the item.
Obviously, these self npc's/auto traders would be expensive but it's a lovely goldsink for the many rich folk, aswell as a cute feature for shoppers.
The convenience for selling overcomes the price.
All Anet would need to do is make a small island (like suggested above) or a large indoor cavity in which these traders would be placed.
I've played an mmorpg with the exact same function and it was quite fun to go shopping in that way. No more wts/wtb, just browse for fun items and pickup some bargains.

I played another MMO with a "Mall" feature. You could buy a store in the mall and post specific items you want to sell at specific prices. The pricing screen showed what the lowest going price was at the time you opened the pricing screen. It seemed to be a very effective way to manage selling. Until...
1. You discovered that there was LITERALLY over 10,000 stores to shop as it was easy (if not cheap) to get a store.
2. Prices were changing all the time and took up a great deal of effort to keep your pricing as low as reasonably possible.
3. It was easy to get lost in the mountain of competition. To have someone find your item and buy it was a minor miracle if you didn't spend most of your time managing your sales.
I realize that the market system needs to be revamped somewhat within GW. There's no question about that. But, it seems that most suggestions simply extend toward the notion of doing it like an MMO. ANet has built this game more around competition than world-building and virtual life, which seems to be the direction most fans want to take it. Is this really a good thing? Granted, players just want to spend more time in the game world, but making GW "just another MMO" doesn't seem the best method for improving this particular feature.

hmm I like the idea of a trader town except keep it big and all jobs in one zone and this would be the perfect place for a very good play to put up an auction house / trade house system. And it would cut down the spam since all the good deals would be in that town.
I would love the offline aspect that FFXI auction house system goes. Put item up, and if sells goes to your mog house and if doesn't sell, item gets returned. hmmm
Have special slots say in your storage that are "auction" slots. Set the price. If someone buys it, it replaces the item with a "gold" item you transfer to your gold storage.

I think that might be a good solution.
Most people forget the points of this system which is: Reduce lag.
Ofcourse it has lots of other great functions, but the biggest problem will be solved.
I hope Anet will look at these forums, because i am to lazy too mail them.
Anyways i have better idea's for a trader system, but thats what i keep for myself, since i want to be a Designer in the futher
Anyways i would lke to thanks Guildwars/Anet a lot because they learned me how to make at game even better.

I dont think the districts idea would be a verry good plan. Becase like said before people often sell multiple catagorys of stuff. I as well am a big fan of the 'shop' idea. but I would also fancy a system where you can search for the item you want.

I think that the shop is a wonderful idea! It would be nice to have thousands of shops to choose from. You could pick and choose what you wanted to buy, and I think it would even upkeep the whole economy bit that anet has going.
I dont think the auction thing would work, but not if it was the only thing going. I think that it should be a special thing... like maybe once a month, auction off the rarer items.
Just a thought.

Ahh i remember the SWG times where you put an advertising droid in a major city to attract buyers to my shop.....anyway, i like the idea of a search function and an auction house but i think the seller should have the option of not selling an item if the bidding price ends at a lower price than he has expected

I like the auction house idea better, say have it set up much like the Preist of Balthazar are now- scroll through what type of weapon you want, the upgrades, then shows you the items for auction by price.
